It used to be in Llangollen with Chris Newton. I distinctly recall it with a busted rear axle and parked on the cock with a wheel missing.

Yes Jim, i think it was Jock Murray in Margate that called it Grey Man after a Fowler roller he knew in Ayr.

Chris.

No doubt whatsoever. The 6 tonner did however have a calamity with the gearing one year on the way to a show. Bust the bracket holding the shafts

David, there seems to be a lot of competition in the baking and photography departments springing up in the Cheshire/Shropshire area!!!! Don't give up though you are still setting the standards ;)

Jim

Me and dad argued for a good while about removing the old tyers and eventually came to a compromise, dad said we could have it on steels for one year providing I do all the donkey work removing the old tyers and sourcing and replacing a replacement set.

Since that deal was struck dad has got all sentimental about the old girl, touched up and varnished the paint work and decided it can stay a little longer the way god intended it to be.

Although regrettably what was a very good engine to drive on the road for good distances is now banished to the confines of Klondyke. It really is shocking the ride quality and is almost impossible to drive slow enough in top gear without the feeling that the world is about to end.

i guess the best compromise is the quadtracs as you have the benefit of removing half a dozen bolts and they are back off again and you don't have to do any thing to the original wheels providing you have spud holes which the mac will certainly have. already had a similar discussion with dad regarding what to do with the fowlers rear wheels as i like the quadtracs as there is no draw backs with them other than the usual argument that a road loco should be on solids but seeing the great north on quads i think fowlers wear them really well so that is what 8669 will be having.

plus it would be nice to run her on streaks from time to time same as what your doing with the mac chris thumbsup
