Am I the only person who doesn't get excited about Dorset?

I and everyone I know used to years ago but not so much now. having said that its 'not to be missed' because everyone is there, its like a 'gathering of the clans' where you meet people once a year.
Some of the small infomal do's are probably better fun though.

Trying to get in with Royal Chester. I've written a letter last year and just got off the phone from Martin now but he isn't going to give me an answer for a couple of months :( Oh well we'll see what happens!!

The commercial section is running a theme of Diesel Showmans transport. Im busy trying to organise it at present. Trying to get as many works built showmans vehciles there as possible together with some more interesting ex-war stuff.

Hopefully, after going for 7 years, 2012 should be my 1st time exhibiting in Dorset. Ive done plenty of other shows around Wales, Gloucester, and that sort of area, but Dorset is still the best show by far.

What determines who they choose to invite? Some engines seem to be there year in year out. But if you have an engine which has survived in reasonable numbers, what makes them invite yours over some one else's? Is it an old boys club?

I'd be interested in this, we only get to the local rallies by road, but with Dorest being over 5 days, it makes a lorry trip more worthwhile. I find by the time we get there on the friday, usally a full day on the road, then fix what we need to saturday ;-) its sunday and time to come home!

It would be nice to get the engine down there and have a relatively quite few days and then back again.
