I bet it was cold for the crew in that open cab today - with the low tender and relatively short cab sides and roof, I can almost feel that cold Whitby wind wipping across the footplate??!!

Interestingly however, when Ivatt designed longer and more sheltered cabs for Stirling's Singles, the crews initially rejected them on the grounds that they were for 'softies,' such was their pride in the original design and their loyalty to Stirling!!

Can't say I'd necessarily agree - being a bit nesh myself!!
