Default Statement from the promotors of Fairford rally

After more than forty wonderful years it is with very deep regret that the Directors & Organising Committee have to announce that the Show will no longer be taking place in Fairford Park. We are now actively looking for a new site, we need about thirty acres, so if there are any local farmers or landowners who might be able to accommodate the show the Directors would be delighted if you could make contact with them. We would obviously be happy, as we have in the past, to continue to pay a reasonable sum for loss of grazing due to the use of the ground. The site does not need to be in Fairford but somewhere close would be preferable.

This situation has arisen due to the tenant farmer no longer being able to guarantee to allow the event to have the use of the Park and adjacent fields. The reasons for this are many, but principally because of concerns about possible changing weather patterns and changing farming practices and as a result we have been told that we should look elsewhere in the future. The organisers cannot, at this stage, take any decisions on the future of the Show but obviously cannot start planning for a show in 2013 without a site on which to hold the event.

This is obviously a huge disappointment for all of those who have been involved in the organising and running of the Rally for over 40 years and which has become part of the social calendar in Fairford. Despite the best efforts of the Directors and the Committee a new site, which is available on terms which are acceptable to all, has not yet been found and as a result the show may now have to close for good.

The Directors are obviously extremely concerned about the situation, in which they now find themselves through no fault of their own, and would like to make it clear that they are in no way responsible for this but at this stage it appears that Fairford Rally can no longer run due to lack of a site. The Directors would like to record their thanks to everyone who has, for the many years that the Show has been running, acted as Stewards, Committee, Section Leaders, Exhibitors, Site Staff and anyone else who has been involved in any way and are very sorry that we find ourselves in this current situation.
