That sounds like a Marion, didn't have much to do with them, except watching, I've got it in mind that there was a stop inside them, but the piston could protrude past, to contact the pile cap, SPC tried one inside a cabinet, but I seem to think that it did away with the only advantage that they had, in that they could be used in 'Small' spaces. Last time I saw one in use must have been nearly 20 years back, somewhere around Islington way.

Back to Pegson rammers, we obviously copied it then (or Benjo copied it!). Pegson also made a ripper, which was another free piston device, about the size of a small 2 stroke engine and it operated what would these days be an SDS hammer.

They had one on "Shed and Buried" they wanted rid of - to the extent they appeared to abandon it - but I don't believe that.

Looking at these rammers came up with this article on the history of them

http://domain928502.sites.fasthosts....files/history/
warsop_fairport_history.pdf

which unfortunately doesn't seem to work anymore.

Does anyone have a copy of this article?

Can't help with the above link, but I saved a load of Pegson data and drawings from heading skipwards, which I passed on to the Road Roller Association. They might be able to help with information.

I downloaded it as a PDF previously.
Happy to email it to anyone who sends me their email address by PM.

I don't think I can upload it here?
