Default 1/2 inch Globe Valves.

Anyone got any spare half inch globe valves sitting on a shelf that they would sell on at reasonable prices

Thanks

New ones are cheap enough from BOSS and from other suppliers , if you do a quick google . It's not worth bothering with other people's shagged out cast offs . If the valve is not going to be seen , then go for a modern ball valve , especially on an injector steam feed . The plating soon comes off with a power wire brush , to expose the bronze , and the handles can be replaced with something in keeping .

Its not as if BOSS globe valves are that expensive either. Or rubbish enough to waste your life wire brushing chrome plate off a ball valves.

No , but they are a better valve for an injector steam supply , allowing an instant pickup and shut off . Originally I note that the drawings for my engine show plug cocks for this job , again an on / off valve . These would eventually have deteriorated , and then been replaced by globe valves , modern ball valves not being invented .
