Default South Molton Vintage Rally 2011

Just come back from a very enjoyable weekend, basking in sunshine on saturday and just about dodged the rain on sunday.

We roaded Wallis 7294 'The Sheaf of Arrows' over on the friday afternoon, about a 2 1/2 hour drive over some challenging Devon hills!

The rally saw a small but interesting selection of engines and a busy working area.

On the Saturday evening a couple of engines joined a 5 mile (although it certainly seemed a lot more!) circular run to the pub.

RC8,eight ton double crank compound.1906 She went to Switzerland from new and was fitted with an AC3 cylinder and balanced flywheel. I have the blue prints for the boiler from Aveling all in millimetres!!
A fast revving engine and very free steamer, just ask the Wallis driver if he could keep up!!
Mike.

The only time we could keep up was on the down hill stretches!

There are some steep hill around there, I didn't fancy racing a roller down them!!
I really enjoy the road run when in the valley it's just beautiful, plenty of clean water in the streams and nice short hills to power up with double high opened!! Couldn't be better!!
