Default 1965 Foden Tractor Unit

I have taken the decission to sell my beloved Foden S21 Tractor Unit.

Not only do I need the funds to do the boiler on the Aveling but also when the roller is in steam I just wont be able to take this lorry to more than 1 or 2 shows a year and it will be a shame for it to stay hidden away in a barn for no one to see.

This lorry was bought as a complete wreck 6 years ago and it's fair to say it was 1 seized solid lump of steel.

Over 5 years we personally restored it to the immaculate condition it is in now. Pretty much everything was removed, stripped and repaired or replaced and reassembled.

The list of work complete is immense but here are some of the main points:

New rear drums
New shoes all round
New chambers all round
New flexi brake pipes
New rear axle seals
Rebuilt pump with new pump tops and pistons
New clutch plate
New flywheel face plate
New thermostats
New water hoses
New fan belts
New radiator
New seats
Replacement diff
New front spring
New exhaust
New front bumper
New lights all round
New door pins
New door windows
New window regulators
New windscreen rubbers
New bump stops
New mirrors
New wipers
New filters all round
New diesel tank
Replacement rear wings
New shatter proof rear window
2 new batteries
Much new wiring
New floors
New cab mounts
New foot brake valve
New unloader valves
New wing supports
New door handles
New step rings
New wheel trims
90% good tyres

Literally 100's if not 1000's of other new components that I cannot remember/start to list.

The lorry has only been to 3 rally’s since it was completed and the paint job is as good as you would expect on a car (and better than a lot of new cars if you ask my opinion). The lorry was new to BOC in 1965 and has thus been restored into original colours. The sign writing is actual gold leaf copied from original photos of lorries at this time.

It is fitted with a 150 Gardner Engine (which, as you would expect, starts on the button), and Foden 5 speed box. Once run down the road there is no signs of smoke and it runs like a dream.

I have had a thread going on for quite a while about its restoration and this will give you a good idea of the amount of work that has been done:

Here is a picture of it in its current state:

Any questions please PM me. Vodafone have done a kind job of losing my mobile number at the minute so if you want to talk please try my work mobile on 07990793315. I don't always have it on me but if I don't answer just leave a message and I'll call you back.

Can be seen at Kelsall this weekend, Cheshire Rally in a few weeks and Cumbria Steam Gathering end July.
