Governors
I have a copy of a Burrell drawing detailing all the parts for a standard ` Pickering` type governor .
I would appear that Burrells fitted the same governor on all their engines - Tractors thro` to the large Road Locos - certainly the later engines. If this is any use to you I can let you have some overall dimensions initially. I expect you know that the genuine Pickering governors where made in the US , but I guess they were copied by various manufacturers over here . MARK |

Mark,
The Aveling GND tractors were designed to have the old fashioned type 'swinging bollock' governors, I think from memory the valve fits horizontally into the cylinder just above the flywheels side trunk guide. The adaptor father had, is to fit a Pickering. It had the ports you'd expect under a vertical Pickering, but then a pipe within a pipe and a flange that bolts onto the cylinder. Quite how the two pipes were sealed in the cylinder remains a mystery to be, butthen I havn't seen inside the cylinder. |
