Smile Giant Miniature Weekend - May 6th/7th - Statfold Barn, Tamworth

The award winning Statfold Barn Railway proudly presents its “Giant Miniature Weekend”, featuring 90 or more miniature traction engines and steam lorries in steam! Joining us from across the country will be a wide variety of steam engines in 1.5″ – 6″ scale as well as many related displays. The impressive narrow gauge railway will have at least 5 of its immaculate engines in steam and hauling passenger trains and there will also be the opportunity to leave the train at Oak Tree Halt and visit the wonderful “Roundhouse Museum”. Statfold is a usually private steam railway and this is the only event in the year where the whole family can come along and enjoy this lovely venue. This event has grown to become one of the largest gatherings of miniature road steam in the country and we are proud to play host to such a wide variety of engines and exhibits!

As well as the narrow gauge steam trains and many, many miniature steamers there will be some full size traction engines, a miniature working area, children’s activities such as a bouncy castle, colour in’s and much more. This is a steam event for the whole family to enjoy, both for the young and young at heart. Best of all, all profits go to deserving local charities. We hope you can join us for this steam filled weekend, showcasing models of engines that operated in the bygone age when steam ruled the roads, the fields and the rails!

Experience Statfold 2017.

Tickets for this event require a donation of £10 per Adult, £5 per Under 14 and £25 per Family Ticket (2a + 2c). Entry includes the show and unlimited steam train rides on the Statfold Barn Railway.

Tickets for this event should be purchased in advance to avoid disappointment. Statfold Barn Railway operates by only selling a certain number of tickets to make use and accessibility of the site comfortable for all visitors and exhibitors. Book early to avoid disappointment. All tickets must be ordered in advance. All profits go to deserving local charities. We look forward to welcoming you to Statfold Barn!

Default Tram Update

Hi there guys

A small update on the upcoming "Giant Miniature Weekend" at Statfold Barn. Tickets are going well for this event and are still on sale through www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk . Prices are £10 per Adult, £5 per Under 14 and a Family Ticket is £25 (2a+2c). All profits go to local charities.

As well as the 80+ miniature engines and the award winning steam trains of the Statfold Barn Railway, we are pleased to announce that the brand new tram will be operating services too. Tramcar No14, built in 1906, is a survivor of the once local (but now long gone) Burton & Ashby Light Railway. The tram has been restored at Statfold to a high standard and has had a purpose built tram shed, station and tramway built for it to run on! It made its first moves this week and will now be in service for the "Giant Miniature Weekend".

The miniature engines will provide a colourful and varied line-up once again this year. Makers such as Burrell, Foster, Foden, Savage, Ruston Proctor, Fowler, Kitson, Garrett, Atkinson, Waterous, Allchin and Marshall are all represented.

As well as the miniatures we will also have 'model tent' style displays indoors including toy steam, 16mm live steam model railways, meccano etc. The "Roundhouse" will of course be open allowing visitors to see the rest of the massive SBR locomotive collection, with 5 of them in action on the railway

From the full size engine division we hope to have at least three in steam - three rollers are presently booked in =
- A & P 11240 of 1925 "Louise" - F Type
- A & P 9024 of 1919 "Rosetta" - BS Type
- Wallis & Stevens 7939 of 1927 "Emily" - Simplicity Roller
* We hope to have another 2 full size engines joining this line-up soon

Thank you all for your continued interest in "GMW" at SBR. We hope you enjoy it

Best Regards

Sam

Default 4 Weeks To Go

Hi all

A quick update from the event which begins 4 weeks Saturday

Tickets are still very much available at www.statfoldbarnrailway.co.uk . Tickets include the show and unlimited steam train rides.

We have now agreed the locomotive roster for the 5 SBR engines which will hopefully remain the same now -
* 0-6-0 Corpet Pannier Tank No 439 of 1884 "Minas De Aller"
* 0-6-0 Peckett Saddle Tank No 2050 of 1944 "Harrogate"
* 0-4-2 Hunslet Saddle Tank No 1842 of 1936 "Howard"
* 0-6-0 Hudswell Clarke No 1172 of 1922 "Alpha"
* 0-6-0 Hudswell Clarke No 972 of 1912 "Fiji" (Driver for a Fiver/Footplate Rides)*

As above, the top four engines will be working the passenger service during the event. "Fiji" will be working the 'Driver for a Fiver'* and 'Footplate Rides'* job from Oak Tree to the Balloon Loop on the HL line as this isn't in use during the "GMW". (This is because the upper half of the HL line is used by miniature engines in their hoards!).

One additional SBR locomotive will be on display in the running shed (over the pit) amongst the stands and model railways but the remainder of the collection will be available to view at the Statfold Barn Roundhouse at Oak Tree Halt.

On the Tramway, the recently restored Tramcar No14 will be in action offering tram rides*. The Burton & Ashby Light Railway tram is new in 2017 and is a very welcome addition to the event.

As well as the above we have -
- Over 80 Miniature Traction Engines In Steam
- At least 4 Full Size Road Engines
- Bouncy Castles at Oak Tree*
- A 5" Live Steam Demonstration Railway at Oak Tree
- A Miniature Working Area with displays of Wood Sawing etc
- Catering & Refreshments
- Indoor displays of Toy Steam, 16mm Live Steam and Model Engineering

This all ages family event at Statfold Barn offers alot of steam variety with models and miniatures on display in all shapes, types and sizes!

During Saturday day, Dr Busker will be doing a short performance at Statfold too

Many thanks all. We look forward to seeing you

* denotes small extra charge payable
