Default 2014 Orsett Show Saturday 05-09-14

Following losing Dad last November, it fell to Mum and I to 'arrange' engines for this years show, as usual we 'aimed' for 20 but the best we've actually done is 19, and this year we had 15, as follows:

1914 Clayton and Shuttleworth agricultural 'Dusty' F&L Titmarsh

Fowler Road Locomotive 'Nightmare' R. Atkinson

Burrell Gold Medal Showmans Tractor 'The May' J.W. Downs

1936 Fowler DNB Roller 'Bonny Lass' T. Ellis

1923 Burrell agricultural 'The Lurcher' M. Kettle

1937 Aveling Barford 6 Ton Roller 'Ellen' W. Childs

1921 Aveling & Porter 10 ton roller J. Thompson

1900 Burrell Single Crank Compound 'Finem Respice' L. Vince

1920 Aveling & Porter KND Tractor 'Shamrock' J. Stanley

1919 Wallis & Steevens expansion 'Eileen the erring' M. Ashdown (Ray Osbourne)

1910 Ransomes Sims & Jeffries colonial 'Catastrophe' M & C Ashdown

1913 Wallis & Steevens Oilbath Tractor 'Lokie' P. Whipps

7 NHP Burrel single cylinder agricultural S. White

And the following minatures

4" scale Burrell Scenic F&L Titmarsh

6" Scale Wallis & Steevens africultural J. Morris

41/2" Scale Foden C type Waggon J. Fleet

3" Scale Foster Agricultural R. Clark

6" Scale Kitson and Hewitson Ploughing Engine D. Rushton

4" Scale Dodman Single Crank Compound B. Rice

Myke Ready brought along his Scammell MU Tractor and living van, whilst Tony Ready had his Massey Ferguson tractor
and I exhibited the Burrell and Sentinel, with thanks to 'Farmer Jiles' (Mitchell Curnick) 'The Fireman' (Laurence Green) and Charley Ruston for crewing, giving me 'time' to comentate whilst driving the Burrell in the parade.

Unfortunately Mum took a tumble Saturday afternoon (whilst trying to get me to have something to eat) so many thanks to my sister Debra for coming over to take Mum home and look after her.

On the whole I had a good time, weather spot on but it's surprising how much goes into a one day show.

A cracking show with the steam section very well put together and run by the Bullman family. Superb commentary too by Stephen which was done in an interesting and informative way which the public took in.

Looking forwards to bringing 9170 again next year.

Jim
