Default Spring steel

I am after a small quantity of spring steel strip 2mm and 2.5mm thick x 30mm wide to make up some binder knotter springs. I would be grateful for any leads regarding suppliers. I have tried several who appear on internet searches, but small quantity seems to mean to them full sheets at £120 each!

If I were you I would get your Yellow Pages and ring around your local spring makers until you find one with some of this material in stock . If you have no luck locally , then I am told that there are many spring makers around Rochdale .

What about using Gauge Plate, or Ground Flat Stock as it's sometimes known? I've made flat springs from that before today, you just need to harden it and then temper it back to a deep blue.

John.

Try model engineering suppliers such as Reeves, We've had some in the past for 5" & 71/4" loco springs, Ill check what spare is in stock.
