AC to DC welding rectifier
I salvaged from work a Max Arc AC to DC rectifier. The manufacturer's build plate states it is up to 250 amps max. There is no duty cycle data. It is about 28" long , 14" wide and about 18" high. It has a central carrying handle but you wouldn't want to carry it very far! It consists of 4 100 amp diodes arranged in a full bridge, mounted on a substantial heat sink. It also has a copper wound choke. It is an industrial bit of kit used in series with ac welding transformers. It might also be suitable to provide the DC supply for a HF TIG set.
I appreciate that these days solid state inverters give a DC output, but this might be useful to somebody with only an AC welding set. Useful for running low hydrogen rods which often prefer DC.
It was being used up to last Friday and was working fine. Powers to be decided it needed to go as the job it was doing was completed - no thought for any future jobs that might come up.
FREE to anybody who can collect / arrange transport from CARDIFF.
Cheers Carl.
