Default WESES 60th Anniversary Event

2015 will see the 60th anniversary of the formation of the West of England Steam Engine Society

As it’s a special year we will be running the ‘Alan Thomas Memorial Road Run’ leading on to ‘The Cornish Steam & Country Fair’

The event will be taking place on the following dates,

Thursday 13th August 2015, the ‘Alan Thomas Memorial Road Run’

This event will be incorporating the usual stunning run up Engine Hill along with a pub stop at the Victory Inn.
From there the Engines will make their way to the Stithians Showground for the start of the Cornish Steam & Country Fair.

The Total distance will be approximately 16 miles along some nice engine friendly roads

(Start location to be confirmed)

Friday 14th to Sunday 16th August 2015, the ‘Cornish Steam & Country Fair’

This event is held at Stithians Showground (TR3 7DP)

More details and pictures here,

http://www.cornishsteamandcountryfair.co.uk

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Corni...15660178545225

We will be able to provide camping at the Stithians site from the weekend before for anyone wishing to take a short break in Cornwall

The 2015 budget has not been set as yet but I’m hoping to have an increase to help get more engines down from other parts of the Country

If anyone is provisionally interested in attending please get in touch via,

weses.steamboilersec@googlemail.com

We hope to be able to work with the ‘Boconnoc’ event on this one to help make it more financially viable for those that have longer distances to travel and might fancy a West Country tour

The Boconnoc dates are 24th to 26th July 2015

One thing on our wish list would be to have as many engines as practical that attended the first 1956 rally at this event

I will update with more information as and when it becomes available, Thanks

A contact would be appreciated for the Ruston & Hornsby if anyone can help?

Your engine first attended in 1978 according to the information i have, you would still be very welcome to exhibit

Charlie D has made contact with some of the above, there are a couple that may be impossible, but we will try our best

Hi Adrian,

Firstly, I would like to wish you a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.

Secondly, I am looking forward to the event it is already pencilled into my 2015 diary.

I wish you every success with getting as many engines from 1956 down as possible and as an enthusiast, I would be prepared to pay an increased admission charge this year if the money enabled you to get more engines to the event.

Regards,
Tom.

Yes, I have been in touch with those that I have been able to make contact with, some intend to come but not all entry forms back as yet.

The late entry forms returning does not help much as you can't plan things to well, through to be honest it's ahead of the last 2 years so thats good

It's only my 3rd year doing this roll and I don't have all contacts, some old info I have seems no longer relevant

I currently have spare money in the budget so if anyone would like to exhibit from further afield this year please get in touch, we can promise you a fantastic road run and a nice friendly event

I has come to light today that I have had a couple of instances of entry forms not getting to there destination. The bulk were sent out a couple of months ago with some more in drips and drabs since.

If anyone was interested in attending this years event, especially in the Cornwall/Devon area and has not had one as yet, please do get in touch.

Just thought I would let people know on TT before making phone calls
