Default Great Chesterford 2013.

It was the Great Chesterfords steam gathering, here is my report, pictures and the people of the rally, all having a great time in the sun.

I came across several engines making their way to the gathering out on the road.

Whilst walking between the two car park's to see the collection of vehicles I passed several intresting features of the village.
Lamp lighters cottage

Blacksmith's cottage.

I am sure this must have been in use when some of these vehicles were new !

Outside privy.

There were also cars and motorcycles too.

One for Hedd first.

The fair.

These young lads and lady, are all joining the army when they are old enough !

The man who we must thank for putting the gathering on the map, although I am sure there are many more.

Mark.

My poor little Ruston ( 6th picture ) had it's work cut out that day. The trailer was loaded with about 1/2 cwt of apples,
scratter mill, cider press, coal, several gallons of water...

We did two demo sessions of scratter milling & pressing. Got a good audience but no tips .

Nice to see a miniature roading to an event, well done that man! How far did you have to go? My closest event is about 10 miles away which is probably a bit far for my Ruston.

It's about 1 1/2 miles. Total mileage about 6 miles. It's not the distance which worries me, it's the nutters I have to share the roads with!
