6” Scale Foden.
I have decided to part with my 6” scale Foden, as it is too big for me to transport and rally on my own. The history of the Foden is that it was started sometime in the mid 90’s by a Mr Stirzaker of Rothwell, Northants, who was part of a group local to me who built 6 of these between them. They built them from the 3” drawings and doubled them up. Mr Stirzaker lost interest, and I bought the part completed model and the rest of the parts in October 2000. I have some digital pictures taken at the time showing the part completed model as I bought it. The chassis was complete, with the boiler in it, and all the gearing, and the cylinder block and all the valve components were largely made but not fitted. The Foden is built as a double high. I completed the model over the next 7 years off and on. I spoke to Mr Mansell at the Old Warden rally in September 2003, (see below), and he recalled supplying some boilers to the group in Rushden, in the late 90’s. I had the boiler hydraulically tested as I was finishing it, in November 2006, and did my own steam test in 2008, and I finished the bodywork in 2009, and then have done little with it. The Foden has done very little and will want “running in”. It will be supplied with a current hydraulic and steam certificates. POA
