Default Banbury/Bloxham 2018

I would like to thank the owner of a certain 6" Burrell of this parish for ensuring a very enjoyable day for my Chief Engineer. He had a whale of a time. He's come home filthy & slightly sunburnt and will no doubt tell his school friends tomorrow that this is the only way to properly enjoy oneself on a sunny weekend...

Thanks Trevor!

Very nice chap, was speaking with him when displaying my tool collection at Ashby Magna Midsummer Festival. Didn't know he was on TT..
Cheers Andy

A true gent and I bet he gave out many badges to the apprentices that had a go, he certainly gave out a few at Astley Green back in May.

Thank you all.
I bought it to play on myself and to get as many youngsters as possible to ride or sometimes drive.
If we do not get them interested and intrigued we will not have anyone to hand our toys ( large and small ) on to who can look after them.
A lot different nowadays to when I first started going to rallies in 1960 when all the engine men wanted was another cup of tea, visitors were a bit of a nuisance.

Default I do not know what rallies you went to in 1960.

My experience in the 50s and early 60s was of continuing kindness. Those who I can thank for letting me sit on their engines include Jack Wharton, Wallace Blackwell Ernie Liversedge, John Crawley, Bill Coates ,George Woodland, Arthur Napper Irene and Bill Sparrow and many more.
Special thanks must go to Bill Tame who first let me steer his Wallis single ( Sylvia, now known as Fair Rosamond) and then the next year taught me to 'drive" her while holding my hands in his.
I learnt a really important lesson from one of the Fearnley family. He noticed me virtually climbing under his waggon ( I was wondering why a waggon listed as a Standard had two chains) while it was in steam, Gave me a good slap on the ass and after explaining the waggon's history took me for a brief ride at a Woburn rally.
I owe great and ongoing thanks to all of those named and many more who encouraged me.
Regards to all David Powell.
