Default Belper Steam & Vintage Event 13 & 14 June 2015

Sadly the rally was ruined by extremely wet weather on Saturday and the expected better weather on Sunday did not materialise. The Event just doesn't seem to have any luck with the weather despite being in the middle of Summer just hope the committee doesn't decide to throw in the towel. Anyway folks appeared to enjoy themselves despite the conditions. Engines had to be either dragged, pushed or winched off on Sunday night except for engines fitted with quadtrac tyres which were able to extract themselves.

Can I borrow your tractor mister - pretty please!

That looks horrible and reminds me of Dorset last year. How did you get Goolie out of there, that little tractor doesn't look man enough although it is a Marshall. Was Sprig there pulling others out?

Goolie was winched out with the Field Marshall. Sprig was able to extract herself being on quadtrac tyres. Other engines were generally towed out by the big 4WD tractor boys.

It rained very heavily on Friday night, and the field never recovered, the rain that followed all weekend just made matters worse. Very sad with all the work that must go into an event to see it turned into the mud bath it became.

The fact the fields slope away does not help, I would have thought the farm was returned to the farmer in poor condition
