The smokebox tubeplate has been seal welded on the full circumference at the flange caulking edge.
The firebox crown has been renewed with a welded insert (350x660mm; 10mm plate) fitted with a welded fusible plug bush. The remaining firebox plates are pitted and wasted slightly to 1mm deep increasing to 2mm deep in the tube area.
The barrel is known to have been patched between the cylinder and the smokebox extending down the sides to below the cylinder mounting and has been restored by welding locally at the lower part adjacent to the tubeplate and on the right hand side over an area 150mm x 130mm.
Other parts of the barrel are pitted to 1.5mm deep.
INTERNAL: The upper 3 rows of stays at the firebox sides were renewed at the time of the crown renewal (1999). The lower 3 rows of firebox stays were renewed in 2010.
Other under water surfaces are pitted and wasted from slight up to 2mm on the lower parts of the firebox and 2 - 3mm on the lower parts of the barrel. There is also wastage on the firebox tube area ligaments up to 3mm deep
