Dave, personally having only been for the past couple of years I'd agree with Hedd. Get there Saturday, Engines all in the cattle market with the public milling around asking questions about the engines (all of which I point in Hedd's direction as he knows what he's talking about) makes for a great atmosphere. Followed by the afternoon parade and the evening run up the hill to the pub.

Two glorious days.
Sat. Engines come up out of the wood yard mid-morning and assemble in the cattle market. A grand parade statrts at the top of the town about midday, which the steam contingent join at the bottom of the hill, then it is back to the cattle market for the afternoon static display until about 4pm
Around 7pm a few engines go up to the top of the town and stand on display until around midnight. To me, the best part of the weekend with pubs (including one of the oldest micro breweries in the UK) plus hot food shops and a big crowd.
Sunday. Th engines come out of the wood yard mid-morning and stay on display in the cattle market until about 4pm, which is followed by the Grand Parade before everyone heads for home.
It depends on how long you have to spare. I go both days. The Sat evening is to me by far the best part of the weekend

No magnets Tony - Negative ions that are said to last 10,000 years!

And I have been told where to shove them already - in one ear and out the other.

Bring your laptop to Bishops Castle Tony. I have some photos and a couple of vids on a memory stick for you

send a PM to v8spider and ask him. He has a field where the miniatures camp. He may let you stay there. Or there is Mellington Hall campsite where we are at about £5 per night. We could provide transport for you if needed. The camp site is about 4 miles from Bishops Castle

The whole point of Michealmas Fair was started was as a street fair with a few vintage vehicles thrown in to generate extra visitors to the town to spend money with the local shops, pubs, campsites etc.

The biggest problem the Michealmas Fair Comittee have is getting visitors to pay, as it in the streets. to cover costs for next years event to go ahead.

So any visitors please could they support the event by buying a wristband £5 for the whole weekend, there really is so much more to see than the vintage section, with music, dancers performers, with stalls selling local produce, the mountain bike stunt team are worth a look on Sunday,

Forecast is good lets all have a good weekend
