Default Sentinel Firebox

We have a firebox for sale, which is the spare we kept for Elizabeth as at boiler inspection time it was easier and quicker in commercial terms to simply swap units and get straight back on the road. It is a Woodbine box and has not seen very much service coupled with the fact it has just had a complete retube and inspection at Woodbines who give it a clean bill of health for many years to come. It is of the small boiler type, suitable for Supers, small boilered DG's and S types. Offers over £7000 on a first come, first served basis will purchase the box.
We also have a brand new complete DG diff which won't be cheap, but still a fraction of the new price and of course if you need it now, it's available.
The biggest lump after the firebox is a pair of trunk guides (for the 2" longer engine) that have been sleeved and machined back to factory size, together with the 'piston' type crossheads with oil scraper rings and brand new gland stuffing boxes and the new type packing system to make crankcase oil loss a thing of the past. These cost a fortune to refurbish and compared to the older system Sentinel used are far superior, so offers are invited with noughts on the end.
Perhaps a rare animal is a pre heater coil, needing just one tail nipple but otherwise like new.
We also have boxes of sundry items that are largely DG related, but this is a difficult one as we are as you would imagine emotionally scarred and don't want several phone calls a night for smaller parts at £5 a piece if you know what we mean.
It must be made clear that the new owner of Elizabeth had first choice and we waited weeks for an answer, but it seems he feels he has invested enough so they are up for grabs.
I forgot to mention that we had cast a number of half shaft babbit metal oil seals, which although un machined cost a fortune because of the weight and cost of the metal.

PM in the first instance please and the first show of beer vouchers wins the coconuts.
Regardless of the inevitable rumours, we never wanted to finish and although my hospital dealings are happily almost over, the shock and subsequent destruction of my immune system were firmly blamed for the pneumonia and all the other horrid stuff.
We now have a narrowboat that has turned out to be more difficult to look after than any steam engine!

As previously mentioned we would have preferred to have sold our whole stock as a single job lot, more to help us move on from a subject that's already nigh on impossible to move on from, and although much interest was attracted it sadly wasn't sufficient to cause the removal of some weight from someone's bank account.

Best wishes,

Vern.
