Default Governor

We are looking for a governor for a Fowler K7 ploughing engine. Very similar if not the same as the one fitted to compound agricultural type

Ho , ho , ho ! I remember Charlie Clark telling me that he removed yours and threw it over over a hedge because he reckoned that it was throttling the steam . If you are stuck then I can help with a drawing . Is the valve still in the cylinder ?

Yes Bob the valve is still in the cylinder block. But a drawing is always very welcome because there is a change that I have to machine all the individual parts. If we don't find a complete governor we are planning to do a casting (or multiple) and I start in winter to do the machining. If so I will machine duplicates to have spare parts and/or a complete governor. You never know if we need it for another K7.

I'd have thought that it was the valve throttling the steam.

Got another question folks. Drive between the crankshaft and gears is by two keys. Hilda's are worn in the shaft and the gear. Given that as far as we could tell all 4 K7'S at Bedford had the same issue. Ergo inadequate design. Wonder if the crank is man enough to open out the keyways enough to true them up then machine two more at 90deg. What has anyone else done?? Rgds mike
