Default 3" scale engine wanted

Asking for a friend who wants to buy his son his first engine. Three inch scale or small four inch, tested boiler and paperwork for it a must. Prefer running order but don't mind a few tidy up jobs, no half built or renovation jobs please.

Please pm with details and I'll pass it on.

Thanks, Lee.

I would keep an eye out for the 3" Maxitrak aveling, they are a great little engine and all the parts are still available from maxitrak. Also they seem to be a fair bit cheaper than the equivalent 3" Burrel and nip along the road pretty well so are a more "fun" engine imo.

Berrybrooks have one available but sounds as though the boiler is knackered otherwise i would of expected them to spend the few hours on it to get a ticket. Saying that you could probably change the boiler over in a day as all the cylinder block and motion are mounted on a separate plate which bolts on complete.

Tom,

We haven't got a ticket on it yet as we like to test the engines following a sale to give the new owner the maximum possible time before needing to be retested. We prefer to offer the engines with a 14 month ticket as opposed to a few months which it could well be.

There is nothing to suggest that this boiler, or the boiler in any of our engines for sale, is in any way unfit for use. In the unlikely event of us having a boiler which we knew had issues, we would state that very clearly on our site and in in the event of a sale.

We hope this clears up where this engine stands!

All the best,
Berrybrook Steam
