Thumbs up Whissendine 2008! June 7th and 8th

The Melton Mowbray and District Model Engineering Society extends a warm invitation to all to their 23rd Annual Miniature Steam Rally - to be held at Whissendine Sports Club, near Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire on the weekend of June 7th and 8th.

Widely regarded as one of the leading rallies in the country for miniature engines - road to rail and everything in between - the same format is being followed this year. In excess of 100+ miniature road steam are expected to attend, and 3 road runs into the village are planned once again for this year.

The Societys ground level 7 1/4" and 5" gauge railway will be open to the public, as will the raised 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 5" line. Loco's of all shapes and sizes will be in action throughout the weekend giving rides and being displayed. Also there will be the model tent and exhibition in the marquee.

Refreshments are available throughout, with the bar in the sports club open from lunchtime. A hog roast is planned again for the saturday night, which is FREE to exhibitors!

It is hoped that a few full size road steam will be in attendance as usual for comparison.

Entries are now being invited in all categories. Please book early though as space is limited. Caravan and camping space is available on site for exhibitors.

For an entry form or for further details, please email philip.tansley1@ntlworld.com, or telephone our secretary, Dave Oliver, on (0115) 9375733.
