Bursledon Brick Works Museum Steam up and Haloween event.
A very interesting day with a visit to a museum not far from home that I have known of for many years and never visited before, a museum well worth a visit for anyone with an interest in our industrial past involving the building industry.

Am I correct, in the third photo from the end, both of these models are 3" scale? The 7 NHP Fowler is much bigger than the Plastow Burrell - did someone mismeasure a full size Burrell many years ago? Even if it was a model of a 5 NHP traction engine it still looks too small. Does anyone know the story behind why it is a bit on the small side?
They both look good though and I would be happy to have either in my shed. Michael |

My 3'' Mac. dwarfs my 3'' Marshall, which dwarfs a 3 '' Burrell. It just depends on the size of the full size engine prototype. A few years ago 3'' Burrell's were thought to be ''massive''. Owt above this was thought to be above the norm.

Bob, if it is one your list, may I suggest either the April open day or the one in October. These 2 days are the steam group's responsibility to organise. As such we tend to arrange for more of a steam theme, with more engines present, than at other open days in the year.
