Default A. Henton's steam party

Sunday 30th August saw a charity steam party at Arthur Henton's Norton juxta Twycross farm. About 12 engines in attendance and his miniature railway was very busy all afternoon. Let's hope plenty of money was raised. Thanks to Arthur and the team of organisers for a truly special afternoon.

I had an invite via the Tomlinsons but was told it was for villagers and like-minded steam people. Everyone was welcomed. It was my first visit but hope we are invited to take Pedler another year......hint, hint!

It would be a perfect place for a photographers charter type day. Posing various engines against a background like that only without the modern plastic chair that I failed to see!

That yard is the same yard that the engines used when the family were contracting, the number of engines that have been there is phenomenal.

Is this same roller as number 3 in line up? Pic taken in some part of Henton's yard 1967, with Emma in the background.

Rather ironically, I found some old photos a few days ago. The photos vary in quality and I thought I would post a few for members to see; engines including 'Ikanoppitt' and the (1882?) McLaren are amongst them. Also amongst the thirty or forty photos was this picture of the Aveling roller mentioned here. I think it was taken at the ???? Steam Party - I can't remember where but it was sort of North-ish of Nuneaton, if folks understand what I mean! There is no date written on the back of the photo and I can't remember when it was taken - I can't even decide on the decade on this one, 80s or 90s! Hopefully some members can post more info.

Michael

Used to be a steam party at Caldecote. Went once, around 1999.
