Default Ploughing Engines for Contract

An odd one

I've just had an email via the East Anglian Traction Engine society website from a chap looking for the following

Hi, I am looking for a pair of working plowing engines for a contract to
remove silt from a lake. this is a genuine contract and the best way to do
the job is with two engines working a silt plow. Do you know of anyone who
could help, there is good money in this.
Chris Mindham.
PS the contract is just into Northamptonshire from Cambridgeshire. hope to
hear from you

His number is 07767 715 317

We have got a brand new scoop sat waiting for work and a pair of BB1's sat in the shed might be worth a phone call !!

A pair of ploughing engines doing an actual job would make a much more interesting DVD than the usual fair of watching them play at a rally.
I see an opportunity here for the right person.

Another possible contract?
Just seen 'Countryfile' on BBC 1 from Blenheim Palace. Someone from the Palace mentioned that the lake is heavily silted and they needed someone to dredge it and spread the silt.
Over to you!
Bill.

From a romantic point of view a pair of steam powered ploughers yes, BUT from an economic point of view go for a pair of diesel conversions.
It's also very hard on the rope, coiling head and the drum as the silt acts like grinding paste - I did a 10 day job back in 1980 and wore the bottom pulley on the coiling head down to the point where it split in two (fortunately without damaging the rope).
