As an Apedale Railway volunteer who has been assisting in digging trenches and laying track for some considerable time I can confirm that a considerable amount of work and planning has gone into this event. The success has no doubt been due to starting early, over 18 months ago, even so; the ruined French chateau went up the night before the opening. It was undoubtedly a great success and anyone who wasn't there missed a real treat. Whilst there was an element of 'theatre' and keeping the family entertained; there was also a strong education element, a case of trying to keep all of the people happy all of the time. Congratulations to the committee for having the vision to put on an event of this scale.
Barry.

Agreed, I was particularly pleased to see school groups being shown around on Friday afternoon.
