Default Mellor Steam Party and Road Run

We took Foden 13266 to the Mellor Steam party held at the Myerscough Inn on the A59. This was the second year of this event, this year celebrating an 18th Birthday, Marshall Roller 79087 "Jane" which was recently purchased By Brian Wainright, was 90 years old. The Steam party involved a 5 mile road run up some very steep hills. All in all a good weekend. We went back via the Ribble Steam Railway in Preston as we were in search of a Steam roller, which we found although in pieces.

Stuck in traffic through Preston City centre

Setting off on the road run

Marshall Jane arriving at the first pub stop

Another visitor was Burrell Laddie, only its second trip out after having a lot of work over winter including all new gears and bearings.

Foden 13266 parked up at Ribble Steam Railway. It was quite a large car park but we thought best to park next to the pile of coal

And posed next to a Standard gauge 0-6-0 Hawthorn Leslie

And we did manage to find the Steam Roller we were in search of, unknown to us it was under overhaul and boiler repairs. Aveling 4505 Fusileer

Thanks Graham

I appreciate you bringing the Foden to the little do and also for posting the pictures. We will have to see what we can do next year. I think you now appreciate it when I say we have a VERY steep hill close by.

Here's one of the Foden after the steepest point of the climb and one of Jane at the same point, courtesy of Mr Durling. As you can see by the lines on the road Jane had the diff locked for the run.

Certainly am thanks. Just had a lovely day out for father's day, road run to Ribchester Arms with family and friends, doesn't get any better. Hope there were lots of others out today doing something similar.
