Trevithick Day 2018

Camborne was cool and fine, with extended sunny spells.
The crowds came in their thousands and to judge from the litter at the end (which had vanished by the next morning), they had a thoroughly good time.

Among the mainly regularly seen local engines, one stood out, Burrell Showman's 3949 which I had yet to see because I believe it is more than 10 years since it has last steamed in public.

Just a small correction - Burrell 3986 is not called Socvis. Its never had a name and hopefully never will.
It appears that the good old Traction Engine register also has it wrong - Socvis I believe is the name carried by Burrell 3985, an 8 ton roller that lives on the Isle of White.

Has Burrell 3949 'Princess Mary' changed hands? Last thing I knew she was owned by a gent who
operates a fleet of pleasure boats out of Poole harbour, but I've not seen him to speak to for a
couple of years.

Thanks for this, I hadn't met it before and took the TER's word for this. Has it been to any public events in the last 3-4 years?

A man working on another engine told me that some assistance had been offered and accepted to get her back on the road. No doubt someone on the forum will know more.

No worries.
We've always kept 3986 at Dingles until last year when we moved it further into Cornwall. We've been out whenever we can, Trevithick day a few years ago, Carnhell Green, WESES, we took it to the roller special at Dorset.
Recently I've struggled to find enough time to attend any events, so I'm especially thankful to Jon and Sam for looking after it so well and taking it to this year's Trevithick Day.

Been with the same family for a while, being crewed by a father and son team who have known the owner for a number of years.
