Had a nice day yesterday - sunshine, good selection of steam, no mud (at least while I was there!). Strong but very nice Somerset Scrumpy - proper cider!

We had a grand afternoon too today, very nice to see the Sentinel and "Whitehall" in the metal. Sun shone too!

What engine is in the second to last picture?

What is behind the roller, is it the 5th to last picture or something like that.

Hi Dave,

Your problems with posting may have been down to me messing up my pictures and having to edit the post to sort them!

The second to last photo is of Ian Fearnley's Sentinel DG6T wagon of number I cannot recall (having a mental blank!), but think is 8881?! He has just completed a 9 year complete rebuild and just made first steam in May of this year, debuting at Duncombe Park a couple of weeks ago. The wagon was "rescued" in 1971 by Edgar Shone, who cut the chassis in two because it would not fit his trailer to get it to sale. The two halves were sold split and many years later reunited by Ian to form
the lovely machine it is today. Many new parts have been fabricated from scratch by Ian and his Father and there's still a few jobs to complete such as the body and windscreen - the latter being the next on the list. Ian roaded the wagon to Masham from Thirsk and has achieved 30mph.

The thing being towed behind the roller is a tar sprayer, although looks more like a spreader to me, but more knowledgable people will probably correct me. Whatever, it looked very authentic with the roller!



I too thought Whitehall looked stunning - very impressive finish!

Much better rally than last year for me. Ground conditions were good enabling full movement in the time that I was there on Saturday, but as we left a torential shower came down, so don't know how that affected things for Sunday?!?!

Nothing moved on Sunday that I saw, apart from Bill Summerell getting out of the mud that his roller had sunk into. Very impressive exit! Still a grand afternoon and some great engine folk to catch up with.

Not quite Paul, that particular roller is fitted with a Fowler-Woods tar spraying apparatus, the thing behind is a Fowler-Woods Chipper, for laying chippings on the freshly laid tar.

That one is ex Robert Bridson & Co, then to Lloyd Jones Bros, to Tony Marchington, then to Mr Cox at his sale, and now you can see who owns it. Fathers engine had been known to pull it on occasion. Last time I saw it it still had Sentinel 8122's registration on the back. Oh and one last thing, its on Marshall wheels
