Default long shop museum Open Day

Spring is around the corner and we will reopen in style by launching the 2017 season on Saturday 1st April with a fantastic steam and activity day from 10am-4pm. This will be heralded by live music from the Leiston Royal British Legion Band who will be serenading the town as part of a grand parade from the Co-op car park departing at 9.45am en route to the museum where a host of attractions are in store.
The museum contains a magnificent array of machines and many of these will be demonstrated in all their working glory at our SpringSteam Up event, with rides aplenty! There will be large and small engines in steam, including our very own ‘Sirapite’ shunting engine and Consuelo Allen. We are also rather excited that our unique ‘Suffolk Punch’ steam tractor is being renovated! The last one of her kind, the ‘Joker’ will make a special appearance, hopefully in steam.
Ahog-roast will be on site, with tea, coffee and scrumptious home made cakes available throughout the day! Sights to behold include displays from local model engineering societies and classic cars in the post office square, dancing from the East Suffolk Morris Men, and a blacksmithing demonstration. There will be hands-on activities for children and more.
No need to book – just come along! The admission price for this event will be £8 for adults, £6 for young people (aged 16-21) and £4 for children.
