I have been troubled by this thread for a long time and have decided to comment, although I know I will get slated by some. What the heck?

I was at Pickering in 2009 when "all hell let loose". For weeks afterwards numerous posts appeared on this forum with members, quite rightly in my opinion, pointing fingers and blaming individuals for the debacle.

Yet now we approach the South Cerney event, where their Club should be looking forward to celebrating its 40th Rally, and some on here seem to be praying for it to be a failure.

South Cerney is an excellent event, thanks in no small part to the hard work and dedication of one T.T. member. He has now passed his particular baton on.

I shall be at South Cerney in a couple of weeks time, and I will judge it as I find it. If they make a good fist of it I shall continue to support them, because the event and our hobby is more important than any one individual. And if it turns out to be a dogs dinner then I shall spend the first weekend of August next year somewhere else.

But at least I'll give them a chance.

Stef.

Wsra rally at Norton Fitzwarren Taunton are very happy to take more engines for the undecided of you. It's on the same weekend as South Cerney. They have a free steam train trip for all exhibitors on Friday evening from the platform on the show field to Minehead and back. Every year they have more roads to move around on. Also an organised road run on Saturday.
Mike.

Stef, you have read the situation completely different to me - I don't believe people are wishing it to fail.

Do not make me out to be the bad guy here. I have not told you the full facts surrounding my resignation, and until I do you do not know them.

Established exhibitors know the reasons and fully understand and for the most part respect them. First time attendees, like you are unaware of the numerous issues - and can make their own minds up.

I have been nothing but helpful to the organisers. If they decide to treat people the way they are, that is their way not mine.

I fully support the event, I spent years building it to what it was, do you really think I gave it up to **** the show over? Or do you think I had genuine reasons?

Like you I will be there but instead of running around in circles, I will be relaxing in the shadows of the two engines I am taking.
