Default Trevithick Day 2015

Some pictures from Trevithick Day today, always a great day.

Nice to see some new engines to the streets of Camborne and the Daniel Bros Burrell's towing the 17 ton beam, and all the effort they put in to make this happen.

Thanks to all involved.

Agreed Sam, it could have been taken a long time ago:

I understand the plan is to get the beam back as part of a working operation?

[QUOTE=Steam Scenes;333743I understand the plan is to get the beam back as part of a working operation?[/QUOTE]

whilst Robin was trying to work out how to get the beam back i suggested they brought it back by steam but gradually bring it back up from Cornwall. so it would go to different events then perhaps road it to dorset then do the 60 miles from dorset to are yard. and the response from Robin was "wouldn't that be fantastic" so it is a strong possibility it will happen.

be interesting to know when the last beam was transported by road steam?

The beam belongs to the James Simpson Woolf Compound Engine that we have in our collection.

It is true, it will be back in steam at some point. However, Robin thought that the beam would appreciate a short 'holiday' in Cornwall and Trevithick Day seemed very appropriate.

I think we would all like to thank the Goddards very much for allowing the loan of the beam and to the Daniel Bros for making it happen .....it's something we are not likely to see going through Camborne again anytime soon!

I stood chatting to Charlie on his living van steps on Saturday and the number of people taking his picture was incredible, full on paparazzi. The steam worlds very own Kim Kardashian.
