Default Torbay Steam Fair

Could only make it down on the Friday, but as always a brilliant friendly event with a good selection of engines. Nice to have the "play pen" up beside the carpark for the engines to drive about in and pull up over the hill. Here's some of my pictures:

We didn't make then run down to Brixham, but instead travelled about a mile to a local pub for the evening with the Wallis and two others, to the great interest of the locals!

Catching a ride back to the site on Margaret:

What a great weekend, by far the best show at Torbay.
My thanks to all the steam owners and crew, and to Tony Brooks ( show manager ) and his small band of helpers.

Steve.

Cracking rally. Sunshine, playpen with a sea view, threshing, woodsawing, steam ploughing, crème de la crème of showmans engines, new engines to me, Art's cider shack, the full set. Shame I missed the road run on Friday, everybody said it was quite a sight.

A lot my pics are similar to the ones posted above but here a couple more I can add:

The chap driving Gladiator in these pictures was one of the original members of the Gladiator club, and is now in his 90's. He was one of the gang who went to collect the engines from Whitelegg's in the early 1950's and drove her back to preservation in Redruth.
