Default Cheshire Steam Fair

We attended on the Sunday, a new event for us, chosen as we have been to the excellent Rempstone for the last 2 years and Woodcote being too close and too recent after our Stoke Row visit.

Default Weeting 50th 2018

This was an absolutely superb event, one of the best, if not the best we have been to in the last five years.

The usual picture report is available here, we were there for a long, hot and very sunny Saturday.:

The Pre amble to general engines others in respect of Fowell Wks No 108 is incorrect this was not its first public appearance in steam for about 40 years. The engine attended its first rally in steam at the Bressingham Steam Gala over the weekend of 5th and 6th May 2018.

Default Fowell 108

True, I knew this but should have phrased the comment more carefully.

Thanks for the correction.

Default Welland Steam and Country Rally 2018

I tried to post something similar an hour ago but it seems to have disappeared.

Friday was gloriously warm and sunny, Saturday more than damp at times and I assume that Sunday will have been a write off.

The usual photoreport is here:

http://www.internationalsteam.co.uk/...ukindexw18.htm

Look out for the two rare Fowler showman's engines and the Heavy Haulage demonstration.

It was, as ever, an excellent event.

Default South Cerney and Torbay 2018

We had an action packed weekend:

South Cerney Steam Rally Friday and Saturday 4th / 5th August 2018 (I can't use its official name...)

http://www.internationalsteam.co.uk/...kindexsc18.htm

Torbay Steam Fair Sunday 7th August

http://www.internationalsteam.co.uk/...kindextb18.htm

Sunshine all the way on Saturday and Sunday, of course, with the grass dried up and bright and a high sun, the middle of the day was hardly ideal photographic conditions.

Default Shrewsbury Steam Rally 2018

Despite the indifferent weather, a visit to Onslow Park was, as ever, thoroughly enjoyable.

Default Yorkshire Traction Engine Rally 2018

Effectively a new venue for the former rally at Harewood, we attended on Saturday 1st September 2018.

The sun shone, the venue seems ideal and the punters duly turned up in some quantity, the organisers expected even more on the Sunday when we stopped off to see the Steam Plough Club 'Hands On' event on our way home.

Default Steam Plough Club 'Hands-On' 2018

On our way home from Scampston, we spent a very pleasant 5 hours watching this training exercise for the younger generation.

http://www.internationalsteam.co.uk/...indexspc18.htm

Note that this was not a 'public' event but private for members of the Steam Plough Club:

Few rally organisers lay on such demonstrations these days and when they do far too often the land offered is totally unsuitable being full of stones and even large rocks - the GDSF field was typical. On this occasion it was proper arable farmland and near perfect.

The sun shone and the photographic results were excellent.
