Default 6" Mc Laren Road Loco

For Sale: 6" Mc Laren Road Loco, First Steamed in 2004, attended GSDF in 2004 - 2005. 4 other rally's each year since, so nicely run in now. This is the first engine completed to the Design from B & B Designs. This is a large engine, two large men can sit in the engine on the coal bunker seats and drive in relative comfort. An additional seat may be added or removed with a simple pin, this allows another smaller person or child to come along. This is an ideal arrangement if you have two children and wish to take them on the engine. The Engine Canopy is open top to allow the drivers to get in and out easily, but still retains the look of a complete roof. The engine has a Bell Boiler, Stainless Steel fire bars, Three speeds, this engine will drive easily around 8 MPH at a nice sensible crank speed, and pull like the devil in low gear. We tested the engine at GDSF in 2005, we generated 13HP on the Dyno, that was without the safety valves blowing! - This Engine is made to a high standard of workmanship. All parts are cut from Solid where applicable (no fabrication). The crank is cut from solid en40b Nitriding steel. The Valve gear is Professionally Case hardened . The engine has two 1/2" Pemberthy injectors, one operates from 50 to 150 PSI, the Other operates from 130 to 210 PSI. A crank driven water pump is also fitted. The engine is fitted with Vulcanised Rubber tyres - The weight of the engine is 2.9 tons, I usually transport using a non HGV beavertail lorry. To view photos or the build diary take a look at my website. - The engine is very reliable. See my website for details, I have added some links below........

http://www.bailey-steam.com/index.htm for General photos, pulling a large tree at GDSF,

http://www.bailey-steam.com/hogdyno.htm - for a video and information for the GDSF Dyno test,

http://www.bailey-steam.com/mac6.htm - Menu page for the build diary including first steam photos etc.

This is a unique opertunity to own a large Road Loco, at present there are only two running the Rally Scene. I'm selling due to a change in direction with my hobby.
