Default Steam Plough Club AGM - Moring visit to S.E Davis & Son Ltd

The 2008 AGM of the Steam Plough Club took place on 5th April 2008. There was a morning visit to the yard of S.E. Davis & Son Ltd of Astwood Bank in Redditch. They have an ENORMOUS collection of tackle to include many crawler tractors, diggers, bulldozers and excavators. Also, there were a large number of steam engines, some of which were in steam that were able to be viewed.

The HUGE blade of the Euclid crawler which worked for the National Coal board. The small Fowler crawler gives some impression of its size.

Marshall Traction engine 'Emily' owned by S.E. Davies

Aveling Steam Roller owned by S.E Davies - quite a special and unusual roller

Barrows 8NHP portable engine with twin high pressure cylinders owned by S.E. Davies

Fowler D4 convertable roller owned by Darren Wardell of Birmingham

Garrett traction engine 'Lucy' owned by S.E. Davies

Fowler BB1 ploughing engine 'Paul' owned by S.E. Davies

Fowler K7 ploughing engine 'Linkey' owned by Andi & Mark Jones with newly restored living van

John Colins's Fowler BB1 ploughing engine was hauling a converted Fowler mole plough via a pulley block system that burried a plastic drain pipe and systematically backfilled the trench with gravel.

Paul Davies's newly restored Fowler ploughing van

What a smashing day out. Nice to talk to a couple of Traction talkers.

Sam.

Yes thanks, good job you said! Almost as many sheds as engines.
