Default GE 150 Years Steam Special

Apologies for this being a rail related post but tomorrow (10th Oct) sees a steam special hauled by "Brittania" back on her old stamping ground between Liverpool Street (London) and Norwich to celebrate 150 years of the Great Eastern railway.

For those who live near the Great Eastern mainline and wish to see the train timings can be viewed on the www.uksteam.info
website.

I will go to my usual spot on Brentwood Bank and watch "70000" doing her stuff!

Will probably go out & see it around Stratford. If I have time to get out there, is there a good spot around Brentford to watch?
Cheers Roger

Do you mean Brentwood?? the station is pretty good as it has a good vantage points and is well into the climb.
I should think if she is running on the down fast she will be shouting at the top of her voice!

Just got back from hanging over the bridge at Pump Lane, North Springfield, not as good a vantage point as I was hoping for, but still a great sight, Little Sis has taken dad up to Hatfield Peveral, hope they got there in time.

The Great Eastern Railway....... One of only two real "Great" Railway's in my book (sorry all you western and central fans but the GW and GC isnt the other one, ill let the GN fans work out which one i mean ). I was busy so missed it. I think it would be lovely to get B12/3 8572 on the mainline, or even better, get the E4 up from Bressingham and the J69 and J17 out of the NRM to join up with the NNR B12/3 and J15 and the EARM N7. we can but dream Just a shame a Cluid didnt make it into preservation. being cut up (was it at Stratford) cos it only had saved markings on one side (or so the story goes)

I think that you'll find that the last 'Claud' was scrapped by Kings of Norwich, having been hidden away by Bill Harvey, a local model engineering society were interested in purchasing, but could not raise the money, so they aproached Alan Bloom, to see if he could help, but Alan did not like inside cylinder locomotives..................

Looked and sounded great going up Brentwood Bank.

If only we could turn back the clock to the 1950"s
