A couple of years ago they decided a professional body with a universally known and respected title that instantly identified their area of interest was old-fashioned and needed changing. As a result they came up with "
IET" - "
Institute of Engineering and Technology" ...a meaningless naff name that I proudly didn't vote for! Lol.
I think the argument was that the IEE actually also incorporated a couple of other professional organisations that weren't strictly electrical/electronics orientated, so the change of name was/is supposed to more accurately represent the organisation. - Pah!
