Hi Kitten - TTP 2011 and friends are running a event that WILL take place whatever the weather (excepting 3 feet of snow !!).

The event is listed on the TT events page, but just to recap, we are holding a Heritage Open Day which is part of the Engish Heritage's annual open day scheme.

The event will take place at the Robey Trust's New Perseverance Iron Works in Pixon Lane Tavistock postcode is PL19 9RQ, there is ample parking in the nearby Pixon Lane Car Park.

We will be open from 1030 am to 5pm on both days and admission to the event is free for both adults and children.

We will have three full size engines in steam including the one which will be giving trailer rides around Tavistock (a charge applies). The works will be open to the public for the first time in two years and we will be giving working demonstrations of our stationary engines and will this year be running them on compressed air. You will also be able to see and photograph engines under restoration including the ex Senna Sugar Plantations, Mozambique, Compound tractor 31821. We will be giving slide shows throughout the day. It is planned to have three different shows and these will be about the Trust, Tritandem and How it Works. The latter is intended mainly for the public to show them how a engine works and includes shots of inside the firebox, smokebox and boiler !

We will have a Robey Trust Sales Stand and we have on site refreshments. And, for those who have not been up at the Works over the last year or so and who have visited us before, we have the best working exhibit of them all ................................ Indoor Flush Toilets including one suitable for disabled visitors !!

I am the Organiser of the Event and I will be giving the slide shows, so if you are a TT member, please come up and say hello!

Regards,

Tom.
