Cornish Traction Preservation Club - Tredinnick Rally
A great selection of local engines at Tredinnick rally this afternoon, it was especially good to see the Daniel's brothers engines working the plough. The event was a great start to the 2016 rally season here in the Westcountry although conflicting with Launceston steam rally (visiting tomorrow). Good to catch-up with familiar faces, the event was well organised and seemed to be considerably more relaxed than others down here. Some highlights:

The roof on the Garrett Showmans looks very low to me. I'm sure there is usually more space between the top of the flywheel and the canopy on a Garrett 4CD. Is there a reason for this - so it fits in a shed? To be clear, I'm not stirring it, just interested as over the years I have heard lots of reasons why some engines have low canopies, both in their working days and in preservation.

I guess it may have been designed that low for when it was converted, perhaps for the storage reason you mentioned. Some insight would be useful as looking back it is quite noticeable!

Charlie won't thank you for referring to his engine as Headland Beauty. It's the Fowler.

Having checked the Fowler works list I stand corrected in regards to the name. Any info on as to where Headland Beauty comes from as there are quite a few references to it.

I see, thanks for the reason. I'd remove the name but TT doesn't permit the editing of the post.
