Chetwode Arms Sunday

We went again this morning to soak up the atmosphere and the rain. We found the crews busy with tuning and polishing. Some were having a trundle around and others chatting. One crew were unfortunate to find a problem bigger than they wanted but just like in the old days a few simple tools and a few onlookers works wonders in effecting a roadside repair.

Thanks Dave.

Got to say what a great doo and the way we were looked after by the landlord and lady was out of this world. They need a special and big thank you. After the food from yesterday; this morning we were greeted with a bacon and egg butty x2. Richard's day (landlord) was made when he went for a ride on Fred. I was talking to the landlord throughout the day and he was made up the amount of engines that had come to play and did not care that not a lot of people had turned up to see the engines (hopefully due to the weather).

If you happen to be visiting the area I would recommend a visit to the Chetwode Arms as the food is also top class.

PS Love the photo of Rob watching Roger with a spanner in his hand.

Great pictures from both days David, just sorry I did not make it as planned - originally intended to come on Sunday but then I got a late call to go down and help out at Stotfold Mill for the weekend as I part of the Saunders crew now so had a ploughing engine to play with. Looks like you had your share of rain up here over the weekend too, we had big hailstones on Saturday evening while I was getting the Steam Yachts ready for the evening rides.

My engine (like Brian Morgan's) is also awaiting its replacement cylinder block so in the end I decided not to bring it, I would have done if we had got it in time. We will see if we make chipping with it. I will be bringing it to Astle Park and the Leigh Arms do though, a line up of STW DCC eEngines.

I notice Dwain's engine is now in its "working clothes" guise ;)

Look forward to joining up with you all soon.

Brian
