It was mentioned to me the Wallis and Stevens (07/21) was a "Barn find" though they did not elaborate ,any one care to post the details?

This is my local event, and annoyingly due to bad planning by she who must be obeyed. I missed it again this year. I too would be interested in any info on the Wallis.

Doesn't scare the horses . This was a very real issue when most traffic was horse drawn . A spooked horse is a dangerous thing .

I come across horses quite regular with the engine. There seems to be two types of horses. Ones that are well tempered and care not about anything greatly (even me and the steamer), and those that are frightened by a bee farting. Sadly it is the 2nd type that are the most common. With more and more incidents with all type of traffic and horses, it is time that the horsey community understand that they need to train horses properly. Doing a half arsed job of it puts the riders and the general public at risk. |
I couldn't agree more Mr Brass Cleaner. I personally think that if a horse is to be taken on the queens highway they out to have some form of Identification number branded onto them so that if an incident occurs the animal is instantly recognisable like a car. Also it means that if an incident occurs that there is no issue with owner identification and insurance policies.
The practice of horse riders round our way is to ride up the road 2 abreast even o0n roads with blind/tight corners. the riders on the outside then expect you to mount the verge or footpath to get by them. This really gets me mad! |
The Wallis was more of a garden find than a barn. She was owned by Val Dunnett for many years and is no 7628
There's a good thread on here somewhere with a bit more information on her. |
