Anyone going through Newarke on their way to Lincoln may like to know that 'Tornado' is passing through at 11.13 on Saturday and back at 19.30 ish, taking on water at Newarke on the return. If I have done, I apologise for contaminating this thread. ;)

iain 15th August 2012 06:59 AM

where from and too? Just wondering if there are any vantage points for me as I live newark end of lincoln and might have a look before coming up

Always a good line up of engines at Lincoln with lots of interesting exhibits but it is a 'stationary' engine rally - nothing moves apart from the ring parade. Come to Old Warden and you will see engines moving under their own power throughout the day and into the evening.

Why is it some rallies have engines moving about and some have them confined to their peg?

I wouldnt say that nothing moves at Lincoln, just not allowed to use the permanent road ways, as far as im aware this is a ruling laid down by the showground owners.

buggeroff 15th August 2012 09:37 PM

must come and say hello last time i saw you must be over 20 years ago when harewood rally was down in the bottom by the lake and you had a sherpa camper just thinking could be nearer 30 years

tiny 16th August 2012 08:23 PM

that was in 1993 the first year I did Harewood, doesnt time go by quickly!!!

Maud Foster 16th August 2012 09:46 PM

Maud Foster and crew made it safely to the rally site just before 5pm this afternoon, after an absolutely cracking run from Tuxford. Only grumble is that never-ending long straight from Sturton-by-Stow on the A1500. I fired up twice ready for the hill we could see ahead up to Scampton Airfield, only to discover it was seemingly not getting any closer!
