Sorry for such a silly question what was the thinking behind the scrap yard was everything for sale if so did anything sell

I believe to evoke memories of places like Hardwicks yard and other scrapyards that people like myself were too young to have the enjoyment of foraging around for spares.

Not sure everything was for sale - some of the engines there were provided by Preston Services, others kindly provided by private individuals.

I enjoyed walking round it, I did several times. You had to be careful of the yard dog though :)

I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a wonderful evocation of the kind of scene that Dad & friends were seeing in the 60s when looking for or at engines and cameras weren't always present. My favourite bit of the show, especially when unable to sleep at 6am and the sunrise over the derelict engines was very atmospheric.

Does anyone know what the centre crank stationary engine in the 4th photo is?
Tangyes or Ruston Proctor?

Which Fowler is in picture 13? Also the engine in the background in the same picture is presumably the 'showmans Fowler' 7857, listed at PSS. It's flywheel has an unusual centre. Is it a known Fowler design of flywheel?
