“Blackjack” was built in 1899 for export to Ireland and a farmer called John Jeffers in Co. Louth. Mr Jeffers still owned the engine 35 years later when it was first registered as IB5747 in Co. Armagh. A lovely picture from working days shows the engine on the belt threshing and the farmers and their families all stood for the photographer. A type B4 engine with a large firebox it was reputedly fired with peat turves in working days.

A large and very handsome engine weighing just under 13 tons No. 8635 has patent rear springing, it was very fully restored in the 1980’s and over the past few years has travelled a good few miles by road to rallies in Shropshire and Cheshire. It has even appeared in the 1996 feature film “Michael Collins”.

Sadly this lovely Agricultural Engine is for sale, and will have a 14 month boiler certificate for its new owner. The reason, simply financial to fund a new business venture, a commercial brewery. It will not be offered at auction and anyone with a genuine and serious interest in purchasing the engine should call me, John Paulson, +44 (0) 1939 250 678 or 07946 481 074

The Sipson Van is now sold and as soon as it moves this week the engine will be left all alone :(

I am not overjoyed but it does have to go and someone needs to give it a really good home. :D

"She cann'a take no more capt'n.
She 's goina' blow if we go any higher"

So 210 and nothing launched into orbit.

I forgot to post further information previously.

The engine comes with new water lifter hose and a canopy, which is not currently fitted

The Brewery is progressing well, full steam ahead as they say in the engine world.
It is also getting rather more expensive and so the engine is definitely for sale.
I had been hoping to avoid the sale but hey ho. Will gladly consider a part exchange for a roller with a substantial cash element.
