American La France rolling chassis project
Hello all,
I have what I believe to be a c.1915 American La France chassis, on wooden wheels 17' long double chain drive sprockets on the rear axle. I can find no identification marks. The wood wheels have been completely rebuilt to an excellent level and in a traditional manner, new rubber tyres required. I bought this about 7 years ago as a dismantled rotten living van then used as a chicken shed. My intention at the time was a freelance steam wagon project but as time has gone and other projects taken over, it hasn't progressed. This offers lots of options, a living van chassis project, pantechnicon, trailer etc. Or if more ambitious, a great speedster chassis, or you may wish to continue my idea of a freelance wagon project and I guess someone may even restore to what it once was! I spent more than it is probably worth in its present condition. Happy to discuss price and send pictures to genuinely interested parties. Pm me or email tom.attwood@gmail.com. Located in North Shropshire. Thanks Tom |
Thanks for the interest so far. I attach a pic of chassis and wheels prior to the wheel rebuild. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/14/021_0042.jpg
