Three Marshall tractors, all with different front wheels....

8_10 Brass Cleaner 3rd September 2015 12:08 PM

yes, mine are Tasker, off a timber drug rather than an engine.

The correct diameter, width and number of spokes. The hub isn't quite right but not a bad match.

Here are the pair mine left the factory with

Not sure what Neils are, but he has done a lot to them to make the hubs a near match.

Marshall tractor front wheels being very scarce, though I expect there is a pair at Dorset as usual, on the front of an Aveling showmans conversion.

The same type of front wheel was fitted to some of the early Marshall I/C tractors.

Anthony just to complete the picture. My front wheels are Aveling traction wagon front wheels, correct number of 10 spokes and a very similar pattern of hub to the Marshall. These hubs have been machined to take the correct pattern Marshall C.I. hub bush. This bolts to the hub on the inside and carries the screw on hub-cap. The diameter of the wheel including the solid rubber is the same as the original steel wheel at 40". This is the maximum size that can fitted and still get full lock. Virtually all of the original tractors finished their working lives as rollers and their original tractor wheels were lost decades ago. The only Tractors with original wheels are Jingling Geordie at Snibston still on steels and one in Ireland on rubbers. These two both have different wheels. Hope this clears things up.

Mine are 40inch without the rubber. And they rub the tank on full lock

I can't tell you how big my wheels are, but I can go to full lock without hitting the belly tanks.

I have been told by a few people (last weekend) that they look like Wallis and Stevens wheels.

The eagle eyed may have noticed that "Panther" has odd front wheels

Wallisboy 6th September 2015 07:08 AM

Do you know more about that Andy? Or is it just how it left W&S?

8_10 Brass Cleaner 6th September 2015 07:11 AM

Presumably swapped off one of the others e.g Wanda?

Wanda's wheels as far as I'm aware are the same. Have uploaded photos to show the difference.
