Nottingham Industrial Museum, `Wollaton Park, 26th February 2017.
 

Visited on Sunday, 26th February, for their steam day, which is held on the last Sunday of each month. Car parking is in the Deer Park, £2-00 for 3 hours. The museum is situated in the courtyard near the 'big house'. Entry charges are a very modest £4-00 for adults under 65, £2-00 for those of a more senior disposition.
VO 8987 Fowler 17757 was in steam at the rear of the museum, and VO 8988 Fowler 17756 is on static display inside. The Crosskill portable engine, (UP5) in the TER, is run via a connection to the main steam feed, along with an impressive display of smaller steam engines, and steam pumps. I understand the J.T Marshall portable, is also normally operated in this way, but was awaiting the replacement of a boiler part. The beam engine swung into action around noon, there are steps up to the top of the engine itself, to view the starting, and operating, procedures from above. A selection of Mamod's are run on compressed air, all at once, and make an unusual sight, a model railway was also in action. In the courtyard, a selection of i.c. engines had been cranked up, and the blacksmith's was in full swing. Numerous other exhibits detailing Nottingham's heritage are also on display.This really is a very impressive set up, and well worth a visit on steam days.
